Greetings again from sunny Reynosa! Actually, the weather these last couple of days has been quite rainy, and many of the lower areas, including the new neigborhood we’re ministering in, have had very muddy streets. But our ministry went on!
Today I’m bringing you reports from a couple of other people (not just me this time) about the events of the last day or so:
Cassidy (VBS):
We got to the church this morning after a long night of rain. When we arrived there were only three kids there. The pastor suggested we go home because many of the kids would not walk to the church in the mud. We decided to all stay anyway because if even one kid heard the gospel it would be worth it [Yesterday the parable we shared was the parable of the lost sheep]. As we were getting ready, more and more kids started to come. We ended up having 30+ kids. The three girls I have gotten the closest to walked through the muddy fields to come to VBS. It touched my heart so much when she bent down and started washing my feet because I got my feet muddy–even though she herself was covered in it. The rest of the morning we would wash each other’s feet if even a little dirt got on them. God is so faithful and gives us so many blessings when we put our trust in Him. What an awesome God we serve!
Krista (Women’s Ministry)
The women’s ministry has gone well. The first day we were a little disappointed as only about three women were there. However we decided to invite the neigbors. By the end of the morning ministry, twenty women had come. On the first day two women received Christ. We would appreciate prayer for those two–Daricela and Sra. Santos. Today, in spite of a lot of rain and much mud that made traveling difficult, fifteen women came. God is doing a great work! Many traveled a great distance and came from Campestre [the village which we used to minister in for the past twelve years]. They told us never to stop coming and that we encourage them more than we know–and they told us this after only the first day!
Sports Ministry
Our sports ministry has had some difficulty finding participants in the new area in which we are ministering. Nearly all that have participated thus far have already received Christ, so, out of a desire to minister to unbelievers, we have decided to move our ministry to the local jail for juveniles. Please pray that God would prepare the hearts of those that we will be ministering to and that He would also prepare the members of our team for effective service there.
Teen Ministry
Please pray for that the Lord would provide more teens to participate and that the rains would hold so that we could use the plaza rather than meeting in a small space downstairs.
Hola,
The pictures are fantastic. We are praying for all of you as you continue to do Gods work. Today we are getting the rain and are praying that you have none. Our family is proud of your team and will pray for continued unity of the group as well as your health. Please tell Steph we said hi and that Grandpa went to church Sunday and heard a wonderful salvation message and heard pastor pray for that arrival and safety of your group.
Krista (and women’s ministry SWAMMERS),
I was so glad to read your “report”! I think the first time I read it, it was about midnight and I was very tired! I pray that the last day of woman’s ministry (tomorrow) will be very very special and full of the Holy Spirit – that you will be able to say ‘goodbye’ knowing that the women have been encouraged in the Lord and spurred on to love Him with their whole hearts and minds and strength! May they be encouraged to share Christ with others, too. I pray for you all for keen spiritual discernment to know “who”, “what words”, “how”, and “when” to bring Jesus’ ministry alive in Reynosa!
Laura, Cassidy, and all the VBS SWAMMERS,
It’s all about the heart, isn’t it? May your hearts be continually touched, by Christ, team, and those to whom you are ministering. It is for Him!
Krista,
Very excited to hear how the women’s ministry is going. It’s very encouraging that the ministry is well received and effective among the indigenous women there. I will pray for the new converts and that the Holy Spirit will continue to open hearts.
